Large firework bursting over a dark field of leafy plants, smaller fireworks along the horizon
Campsite at night in an open field, string lights and lamps glowing under palm trees, a pickup truck parked nearby
Eight-thirty on the last night of the year. Out in the dark field, the campsite is a small island of light: string bulbs under palm trees, a lamp glowing green, a white pickup parked to one side. The grass in front stretches away in rusty darkness. Bare trees stand behind like a crowd that came to watch.
Dark field of dry plants lit red in the foreground, a distant line of lights along the horizon under a teal night sky
Facing away from camp, the field becomes a strange place. Dry stalks in the foreground glow red, lit by something behind. Far off, a row of lights strings along the horizon, small and steady. The sky is a deep teal, with one faint orange spark. It looks like a broadcast from another planet, picked up just barely.
Camp table loaded with food, bottles and a cooler under a bright lamp, a pickup truck and a blurred figure behind
Beneath the bright lamp, the camp table is crowded with plates, bottles, bags and a red cooler. A white pickup waits behind. A figure moves past in a blur, half transparent, more ghost than guest. Cables run across the ground. Folding chairs lean in. The night is cool, and everyone is busy with something only partly visible here.
Campsite in a dry grassy clearing lit by string lights at dusk, palm trees and bare trees behind
The camp waits in the clearing, string lights just switched on, glowing warm against the trees. A pickup, a few tables, some bags piled up. The dry grass in front turns orange in the last light. Palm fronds spread above, and bare branches fan out behind them. It looks ready for guests who have not yet arrived.
Wide pink sky fading over a dark horizon with a single tree silhouette and faint distant lights
Free of the bamboo, the view opens wide. The sky is a single soft gradient, pink up high, warmer near the ground. A lone tree stands on the right of the horizon. Tiny lights glimmer in the distance. The ground is nearly black. The whole picture is mostly sky, and the sky is mostly quiet.
Pale dog standing on a dark path at night beside the leg of a tripod, lit from the side
A pale dog appears at the edge of the light, standing on the dark path with its head slightly turned. Its fur looks rough and dusty. The leg of a tripod cuts across the frame on the right. The dog seems unsure whether it was invited, and is waiting to see if anyone will object, or offer something.
