Both sides of the narrow road are lined with trees in full yellow bloom, as though someone painted the hedges gold. The asphalt runs straight ahead into the distance. The sky is pale, the light soft. It is the kind of road that seems to exist only for slow walking and for the colour.

A cone of red earth rises out of tall green grass, its surface crumbly and sharp at the peak. Yellow flowers hang overhead, out of focus. The mound looks built, deliberate, as though something small spent a long time making it. In the evening light, its colour is almost unreal against the green.

A giant white dial, shaped like a weighing scale, hangs under a slab of concrete above a trimmed hedge. Its needle points toward the left, and Thai text curves across the face. It looks like a scale big enough to weigh the whole field, or perhaps just the evening. The needle is not moving.

A steel pylon stands far off across the field, its wires sweeping up and out of frame. Behind it, the mountains are soft blue shapes, and the sky above is washed with pink and gold. The field is darkening. Everything in this landscape seems to be humming quietly, carrying something from somewhere to somewhere else.

The asphalt has turned to red dirt, glowing almost orange in the last light. It curves away past a pair of poles carrying a transformer between them. Trees stand against a pink sky. The earth is so vivid it looks lit from below. It is a road that seems to belong to another planet.

The pink has spread across the whole sky now, soft and glowing above a dark row of trees. Two tall poles stand in the field, thin as pins. Everything below the horizon has gone shadowy. It is a quiet, almost abstract frame, half colour and half dark.
